@Precocious030
excuse me son? there will always be a corvette to smoke the mustang. these cars arent even in the same class.

The GS is an awesome machine. I will have to settle for an 08 base which is fine with me. Go test drive an LS3 Corvette and you will be shocked how damn quick they are manual or 6 speed auto.

guywhoflys1 November 26, 2009 at 8:47 PM

yes only because it is doubled. put that much money into a zr1 and be amazed at what you get

Flabernat November 26, 2009 at 8:48 PM

I spent a whole day with a friend in his ’08 Ls3 Corvette. The ride is very firm, but it’s not harsh by any means, and the seat are very comfortable. Not to mention what that thing can do when it’s floored!……. 8-O All while averaging 20mpg around town and 29-31 mpg on the highway.

That Corvette GS just makes me nut.

What an incredible car and it does it with less hp than the GT500 (which I like as well).

rusty485 November 26, 2009 at 10:33 PM

diferent kind of car diferent price u get what u pay!!!!! but the gt 500 is more fun to drive

Naste2vBrandon November 26, 2009 at 11:29 PM

yea the ALREADY more expensive Corvette Coupe wouldn’t have been a closer match to the GT500…. your right C&D

Naste2vBrandon November 27, 2009 at 12:24 AM

lol but you guys did have a slap…. or should i say bit in the face in early 60′s…

morgangamer22 November 27, 2009 at 12:37 AM

nice

Thatonepersonz November 27, 2009 at 1:33 AM

um… what about the hennesy camaro…

Precocious030 November 27, 2009 at 1:35 AM

the reason the GT isn’t quicker around the ring is because it has a lot of transitional understeer, and it’s entry speed in the corners is several mph less than the ZR1, and even the Z06. svt simply didnt cover all of the bases. between sprung and unsprun weight on the front wheels, the balance isn’t there. but, it was a great attempt of their first MR drive car.

svt really should have refined the Ford GT because it has farrr more potential than the Corvette will ever have.

RaquzaRage November 27, 2009 at 2:29 AM

Yes, it is doubled but more of a track car than the zr1

guywhoflys1 November 27, 2009 at 3:08 AM

yes and ford gt is more than double the price tag of zr1

Doctors2Advocate November 27, 2009 at 3:32 AM

True… but I’m still gonna go out on a limb and say that a 600 hp RWD coupe/roadster can also be called a sports car.

local282forlife November 27, 2009 at 4:15 AM

The Vette is Americas premiere sports. Its been around since 1953, 40 years before the Viper was born.

martintheman16 November 27, 2009 at 4:54 AM

That is why I want one. C&D tested the 08 C6 Convertible Auto and it ran 12.4 @ 116 mph. There is a guy on here with an 08 auto that runs consistent 12.30s @ just under 118 mph. That is moving for a stock car. The 6 speed auto is a 6L80 rated for some serious hp with a 4.02 1st gear. Stock 08+ LS3s dyno 380s/390s (auto/man). With a Cam, they run high 10s.

sidewayznut2009 November 27, 2009 at 7:34 AM

Nevermind I found it on wikipedia now as 7:40 so about like you said.

sidewayznut2009 November 27, 2009 at 8:26 AM

Really where did you find that.

I remember trying to find it out a year ago and I couldn’t find it anywhere.
